A-1

Abase - to lower down, degradeUsage -  His maths teacher abased him in front of the whole class when he failed in his course.

Link - a + base; without a base; Imagine you shifted to a new house whose base is not very strong (without base) and hence it may fall down anytime and can abase you in front of your neighbors.



Abashed -  embarrassed, ashamed or feel guiltyUsage - I was abashed when a strange girl came and proposed(to me) on a busy road.

Link1 - What happens when u get a bash? (bashing)....u get embarrassed.
Link2 - Unabashedly Mallika shehrawat was talking about sex. 


Abate -  to become less strongUsage - Rather than leaving immediately, we waited for the storm to abate.

Link - A man said to Adnan sami," ab ate mat kar..bahut kha liya...abate your weight." 

Abdicate - to give up such as power etc.Usage -  Home minister has to abdicate his duties after huge failure at Mumbai blast case.


Link - ab+dicate dicate sounds like dictator. Dictator is an authoritarian ruler who has lot of power. To remember better,ab normal is opposite to normal.So,abdicate is opposite to dictator (ie)losing power.

Aberrant - unusual or not socially acceptable Usage -  The fish did not display any aberrant behavior when returned to water.


Link - ab (away) + err (error) + ant : focus on ERR and ANT. Ants normally move together in a queue. imagine all these ants moving randomly like a group of honey bees. That would be abnormal behaviour.

Abet - to help or encourage somebody to do something wrongUsage - He abetted him in stealing a bat.
Link -  a+bet ; a bet generally assists you to do something wrong.

Abeyance - temporary suspensionUsage - Legal proceedings are in abeyance.
Link1 - Interpret it as opposite of obey+ance -- not obeying the given orders and suspend the work.
Link2 - He said to me," Abe answer de...don't keep this in abeyance."
Link3 - A-BEYOUNCE(singer)Singer BEYOUNCE's concert was suspended due to riots. 

Abhor - to hate somebody/somethingUsage - I abhor this violence against Indian students.
Link - a + bhor (bore).. a bore person is always rejected. Many people generally abhor a bore person.

Abject -  wretched, showing utter resignation or hopelessnessUsage -  Many people in India still live in abject poverty.
Link1 - Abject sounds like Reject...hopeless person is always rejected.
Link2 - Ab jacket is in abject condition.
Link3 - My laptop rom got wretched as soon as I EJECTED it and I lost all the pride for my laptop. 

Abjure - to give up publicly.Usage - Kareena Kapoor abjured all calorie loaded sweets to become size-zero.
Link1 -  abjure ~ ab (away) + jure (jury). He abjured (rejected, moved away from) her earlier statements in front of jury.
Link2 - Ab jor se kaha...I will abjure this belief.
