1. riven adjective विखंडित 
› violently divided:

2. perpetrator noun अपराधी
› someone who has committed a crime or a violent or harmful act:
The perpetrators of the massacre must be brought to justice as war criminals.

3. wreak verb हिंसक और अक्सर अनियंत्रित
› to cause something to happen in a violent and often uncontrolled way:
The recent storms have wreaked havoc on crops.
She was determined to wreak revenge/vengeance on both him and his family

4. junta noun सैनिक शासकों 
› a government, especially a military one, that has taken power in a country by force and not by election:
The military junta has/have today broadcast an appeal for calm.

5. stultifying adjective विकसित करने से रोकने के लिए नए विचार
› preventing new ideas from developing:

6. coup noun [C] (TAKE POWER) तख्तापलट
high-handed adjective 
› using power or authority more forcefully than is needed, without thinking about the feelings or wishes of other people


7. fissure noun  दरार
› a deep, narrow crack in rock or the earth
› specialized medical a long, deep, narrow hollow area in a surface in the body, especially in the cerebral cortex (= the surface of the brain)
› specialized medical a fault on the surface of a tooth


8. fits and starts अनियमित 
› periods of activity mixed with periods when nothing happens:
The reform process has proceeded in fits and starts

9. mar verb खराब करने के लिए
› to spoil something, making it less good or less enjoyable:
Sadly, the text is marred by careless errors.
It was a really nice day, marred only by a little argument in the car on the way home.

10. fraught with समस्याओं  से भरा
› full of unpleasant things such as problems or dangers:
The negotiations have been fraught with difficulties/problems right from the start.
From beginning to end, the airlift was fraught with risks.
